  • Forest Academy Retains IQM Flagship School Status for Excellence in Inclusion

    Published 03/02/25

We are proud to share that Forest Academy has once again been recognised as an IQM Flagship School for its outstanding commitment to inclusion, pupil well-being, and whole-school development. Following a comprehensive review in January 2025, the Inclusion Quality Mark assessor praised the school’s nurturing ethos, innovative practice, and strong partnerships with families and the wider community.

The review highlighted the success of our ongoing work with Nurture UK and Tender Education and Arts, particularly the RE:SET project—an initiative focused on healthy relationships and trauma-informed practice. Pupils in Years 4–6 engaged in workshops exploring topics such as peer pressure, mutual respect, and boundary-setting. These sessions were not only impactful but also empowering, giving children the skills to navigate real-life challenges confidently.

Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) continues to be a force for pupil voice, leading well-being assemblies, shaping school improvements, and championing initiatives like friendship and personal safety. The report recognised our JLT’s influence in shaping school culture and strengthening relationships across the community.

The review also celebrated our adaptive curriculum and inclusive teaching strategies, which ensure every child—regardless of background or need—can access learning. From our use of Boxall Profiles and Regulation Stations to the expansion of trauma-informed training for staff and family engagement through our Community Hub, the report found a school where inclusion is “not a strategy but a way of life.”

    The assessor noted:

“All staff go above and beyond to create a safe and secure environment.”

We are especially proud that Forest Academy is seen as a place where pupils feel heard, respected, and supported. From our youngest Reception children to our aspiring Year 6 leaders, every pupil is part of a school community that values kindness, curiosity, and resilience.

The review concluded by recommending that Forest Academy retains its Flagship Status for another year, commending our commitment to continuous improvement and outreach across the IQM Inclusion Cluster.

We thank all our staff, families, governors, and most importantly our children for making Forest Academy such a remarkable and inclusive place to learn and grow.
