A Canterbury Tale: An Unforgettable Residential Experience

Our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils recently returned from a three-day, two-night residential visit to the historic city of Canterbury, and what a memorable adventure it was!

Offered free of charge to all families, with the option to donate £20 if they wished, this residential was a fantastic opportunity to ensure every child could access the experience, regardless of background. It was truly heartening to see such strong engagement and enthusiasm from children and staff.

From the very start, our pupils were exceptional ambassadors for Forest Academy. Their journey began with a gentle walk through Canterbury’s charming town centre, taking in the stunning sights and enjoying a peaceful moment in the local park. This set the tone for a trip full of exploration, curiosity and connection with the world around them.

Day two focused on bringing history to life. The children followed a fascinating historical trail before spending time at a local museum, deepening their understanding of the city's rich past. Their questions, observations and enthusiasm were a credit to them.

Evenings were no less special. From quiz nights to film evenings, the children bonded, laughed, and made memories they’ll treasure for years to come. Throughout the trip, they showed independence, responsibility and remarkable kindness to one another.

We are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part. This residential wasn’t just a trip—it was an experience that nurtured confidence, built friendships, and broadened horizons.
