Year 5 Step Into Shakespeare at the Globe

Year 5 had the wonderful opportunity to visit the world-famous Globe Theatre in London—a trip that brought their English learning vividly to life.

The day began with an inspiring tour of the theatre, where pupils were lucky enough to watch part of a live rehearsal for the Globe’s upcoming Christmas production of Pinocchio. Witnessing the magic of theatre in action gave the children a unique insight into performance and storytelling.

The learning continued in a rehearsal studio, where the children took part in an energetic workshop led by Globe practitioners. They played drama games, explored role play, and even learnt lines from A Midsummer Night’s Dream—deepening their understanding of Shakespeare’s language and characters through movement and voice.

Our guide was thoroughly impressed by the children’s knowledge of Shakespeare and their mature, thoughtful responses throughout the day. Their behaviour was impeccable, and they represented Forest Academy with pride and enthusiasm.

It was a memorable day of culture, creativity and confidence-building—a brilliant way to bring literature to life.
