Pupil Leadership

We believe the best schools have a pupil-led culture where children take on key leadership roles and get their voices heard. At Forest Academy, our Pupil Parliament plays a central role in shaping school life. We wholeheartedly value the work of our pupil leaders, using their feedback to strengthen teaching, learning and the wider school experience. We are moulding leaders of the future – ready for work, ready for the world. Our aim is to craft confident and articulate young leaders who can share their views with any audience and apply their leadership skills to real-life situations.

The Pupil Parliament is made up of:

  • Junior Leadership Team (JLT) – pupils in Years 4–6 who apply for defined leadership roles such as Digital Leaders, Learning Ambassadors, Wellbeing Warriors, Eco-Warriors, Rights Respecting Rangers, Community Connectors, and Attendance Ambassadors.

  • School Council – two elected representatives from each Year 1 - Year 3 class, ensuring our younger pupils also have their voices heard.

Together, the JLT and School Council form the Forest Pupil Parliament, working collectively to drive improvements and represent pupil voice across the school.

We actively encourage children to challenge, discuss and debate issues that matter to them. Our children feel safe to share their opinions and viewpoints, which are gathered through pupil voice surveys, learning walks, class discussions, and weekly pupil-led surgeries. The feedback collected is discussed at regular Pupil Parliament meetings and acted upon with the support of staff and leaders.

At Forest Academy, we are proud to be a truly pupil-led school, where every child has the opportunity to contribute to positive change and lead our community forward.
